Quartet Biography
‘Round Midnight is an award-winning “a cappella” quartet of music educators from New York City. They sing primarily in the barbershop style and demonstrate how close harmony can be applied to different musical genres such as R&B, pop, jazz, and rock. The group is a three-time Semi-Finalist in the Barbershop Harmony Society’s (BHS) International Barbershop Quartet Contest and they are past BHS Mid-Atlantic District Quartet Champions. The quartet has received praise for their recording efforts too, garnering two Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award (CARA) nominations in the categories of “Best Barbershop Album” for their most recent collection entitled, “New York State Of Mind” and “Best Barbershop Song” for their rendition of Sam Cooke’s “Nothing Can Change This Love”.

‘Round Midnight was given the title of “Favorite Barbershop Quartet” by the membership of CASA – The Contemporary A Cappella Society. In addition, the foursome won the New York City Harmony Sweepstakes Championship and was bestowed the coveted “Audience Favorite” award by overwhelming crowd vote. ‘Round Midnight has been featured in an array of showcases, contests, and educational workshops spanning the United States from Carnegie Hall in New York City to The Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Larry Bomback, tenor

Larry is the Director of Finance and Operations at OPERA America in New York City. He received a B.A. in music from Haverford College, and a M.A. in Historical Musicology from City College of New York. He is also the director of the acclaimed “Voices Of Gotham” Men’s Chorus. Larry has published articles in several esteemed periodicals, and has presented lectures in the United States, Canada and Great Britain. In addition, Larry is a former Lecturer of Music History at Hunter College in Manhattan.

Wayne Grimmer, lead

Wayne is a graduate of Five Towns College where he is currently employed as a music professor and director of A Cappella ensembles. He teaches private instrumental and vocal lessons at the college as well. In addition, Wayne is the Musical Director Island Hills Sweet Adelines chorus from Long Island, NY. He is a highly sought barbershop arranger and is the primary arranger for ‘Round Midnight.

T.J. Carollo, baritone

T.J. is the Choral Director at a Long Island middle school where he runs the choral and musical theater program. He has directed school productions of Aladdin, Willy Wonka, The Music Man, Bugsy Malone, The Pirates of Penzance, and Once Upon A Mattress. He holds both Bachelor’s and a Master’s degrees in Music Education from Five Towns College, where he was a founding member of the institution’s still vibrant collegiate barbershop program.

Jeff Glemboski, bass

Jeff is another Five Towns College alumnus with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, both in Music Education. He is an elementary school classroom/choral music teacher on Long Island. Jeff is the currently the Musical Director of the Long Island Sound barbershop chorus. In addition, he often performs with “New York’s Most Dangerous Big Band” as a featured vocalist.
